Iemza

This is part of a selection of work that I have found in a book called "street sketchbook", all the work in this book is hand rendered and illustration work, so basically its a pro example of what I'm focusing on in my flicker book. All the work in this book is really good and blows my shit out of the water, so I thought it would make sense to have a look and see if anything gives me some INSPIRATION! And well they are quite a few little gems within its pages witch I have posted up hear...I had to take photos rather than scans because my scanner sucks the big one >.>, any way one of the guys I have looked at is a bloke call Iemza, his work is very dark and uses a lot of desaturated colors to create very human and dismal peaces (in a good way!) He experiments with distorting the human form and explores the concept of fragility. His work is very stylized and individual and the way he conveys themes and humanity through his drawings is very striking and impressive.

Guy Mckinley

Mckinley, hard to believe as it is if from liverpool and not japan! His work is very heavily inspired and influenced by asian imagery and art stile, I noted this dude because of the sheer quality of his drawings, all his images seem alive and full of energy, very happy and bouncy imagery, sometimes its nice to take a step back form all the hard hitting gloomy stuff and aw and bouncy and creative characters. One of the most notable things about Mckinleys stile is the cleanness of the lines and the sensitivity of the ink shading.

Birmingham

A trip down to the museum in town (for the hundredth time). No exhibitions with any thing to do with DNA but nether less there are some interesting things still to be seen in the musty place, some of the images above are pictures of objects that caught my attention and I can possibly use in my DNA project.

DNA!!!

Xenz

This work is done with the simple use of ink and fine line, the way the metals are used gives a sense of flow and speed to the drawings, thus injecting more life into the images, making a picture exiting to look at is a very effective way of engaging the audience.

Spher

These illustrations incorporate a lot graffiti oriented imagery, in combination with floral looking patterns, this is a juxtaposition and in works well in this stile. The images are very layered and create a very busy deep looking image.

PAL

PAL's illustrations of charters are very stylized and I really like his stile and the way he captures emotion in his drawings.
Looking around the web I have found a site that offers a service to make flicker books, the way it works is that they ask you to submit a movie or series of images and they produce a book out of them which they them post to you. This holds a small amount of importance to what I am doing as it is a good example of one of the ways a flicker book can be made. Hears the link:

I've found a leaflet of a Mitchy bwoy Exhibition at the custard factory, so i decided to do a little research on the inter-webs to see if it was worth going to or not. I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at his work and stile, he illustrates human form in a very layered and patterned way, his drawings have a great sense of stile to them and look very unique and interesting, having a strong, striking appearance is important to maintain in all manner of illustration and ill have to try and inject my own stile into my flicker book. The link to a selection of his work is:

My favorite series of illustrations being the clown girls (not for that reason!)
His work is gritty and looks harsh a nice reflection of the nasty world around us, I will most likely check this guys show out.

Ok with the FMP pressure piling up and A strong suggestion form the all powerful tutor I have found it prudent to update mah blog ‘n’ stuff, the image above is one of a design made by non other than the Barnmister himself Jonathan Barnbrook, the design has a very real relevance to what I have decided to do on my FMP with the focus on the evolution of man, cultivating in the self-destruction of it all , this image as with all the work Barnbrook puts out is incredibly clever and says a lot of things in a very simple and effective way, his use of the simple vector lines is instantly recognizable as humanoid in appearance, with the evolutionary progress itself being a recognized icon, the image is very easy to decipher and creates a very clear, strong point. The design says a lot in a small way with the recognizable shape of an army uniform turning on the rest of the line to take a shot, sending the viewer a message of what the world is coming to, not only that but there is a close attention paid to less for-fronted aspects, such as the end figure being crouched to a smaller size as the monkey at the start showing that we are devolving back into animals at our current rate and also the solider figure has a shot on every other one in the entire image, showing that all of humanities history, achievement and chance will be wiped out. The simple arrow shape below the intel design works well in reaffirming us that the final image is still attached and part of the same grope of figures in the line.

mood board

This is a quick mood board to start the ideas flowing with this FMP project, the main thing I want to look at is the evolution of man and how we are self destructing in a way at our current rate, one of the images in the mood board is of a barnbrook piece which nicely sums up what I want to express in this FMP.
